🌍 Regional Youth Summit

About the 76th ECSA Health Ministers’ Conference (HMC)
The 76ᵗʰ ECSA Health Ministers’ Conference (HMC) was successfully convened by the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) in collaboration with the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The Conference brought together Health Ministers, senior government officials, development partners, academia, civil society, and private sector actors to deliberate on strengthening health systems in the region, with a focus on equity, resilience, and sustainability.

The high-level forum provided a strategic platform for dialogue among Ministers of Health, senior policymakers, and global health leaders from across Africa and beyond. Discussions focused on advancing resilient, equitable, and sustainable health systems in line with Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) 2030 framework. The Conference was held alongside a series of pre-conference engagements, including the Regional Youth Summit and the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Pre-Conference, which informed and enriched the Ministerial deliberations.

The Health Ministers Conference Programme

It is designed as a high-level policy and decision-making platform bringing together Ministers of Health, senior government officials, regional bodies, and development partners. Over three days, the Conference provides space for strategic dialogue, evidence review, and adoption of regional resolutions guiding collective action across ECSA-HC Member States.

The programme is thoughtfully structured around plenary sessions, ministerial dialogues, and thematic discussions that address priority regional and global health issues. Key focus areas include Universal Health Coverage, sustainable health financing, health emergencies and climate resilience, women, children and adolescent health, digital health systems, non-communicable diseases, human resources for health, local manufacturing, and regional partnerships. Pre-conference meetings and side events further enrich the agenda by actively engaging youth, senior government officials, and technical experts.
